Last night was the official opening of the Perseverance Exhibition in Sydney, hosted by the Japan Foundation in conjunction with the Art Gallery of NSW. This is the first time the photographic exhibition has left its home country of the United States at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. Perseverance features the work of seven internationally acclaimed tattoo artists—Ryudaibori (formerly Horitaka), Horitomo, Horishiki, Miyazo, Shige, Junii and Yokohama Horiken—along with tattoo works by selected others. Includes life-sized photographs of full body tattoos. Below are some of the pieces that are being featured in the exhibition, but it really should be seen in person to appreciate the full effect of these life sized pieces of art!

Our very own Kian Forreal opened the exhibition with an introduction and some live models showcasing his full body suits and back pieces. Many people had not seen a tattoo of this size up close and in real life, with so many people commenting on the detail and brightness of the colours!
