We love technology. We always have.
Long before it was the norm, this studio was early on the internet, Horisumi had one of the very first tattoo websites in Canada circa 1995, we were also early adopters of Photoshop, iPads, digital cameras and social media — whatever helped us run the shop, reach people and share the work. AI is just the latest of those tools, and we use it the same way: for organising, marketing, video, and adding a bit of flair to our branded content and social imagery. It’s powerful stuff, and it earns its place in everyday life.
But there’s a line, and it doesn’t move.
We do not use AI to design tattoos or drawings. No AI drawing. No AI-assisted drawing. No AI-generated designs, references or “concepts” passed off as our own. Full stop. Every design that goes on your skin is drawn by hand, by the artist who tattoos it.
That’s not us being precious about progress. It’s the whole point. We’re artists — we live to create, and the satisfaction is in making things ourselves, with our own hands, from nothing. If we give a machine the part we love most, the act of creation, then there’s nothing left worth doing. Your tattoo is permanent, and you can rest assured a human made it, start to finish.
