Our current stable of accomplished and professional tattoo artists can create nearly every style of authentic tattooing and aim to produce the best tattoo art possible whist providing outstanding 5 star service.
Authentink Studio is the culmination of over 3 decades of hard work, world travel/study, discipline and perseverance by its founder Kian “horisumi” Forreal.
In 2013, on the 20th anniversary of Kian “Horisumi” Forreal’s tattoo career the doors opened to Sydney Australia’s latest and greatest Japanese and Custom Style Semi- Private Tattoo Studio in the heart of Surry Hills Sydney.
My aim with Authentink Studio is to create a tattoo studio atmosphere where clients and artists can feel comfortable, relaxed and inspired, and artists can create authentic tattoo art in its various forms while clients can expect and receive quality, service and honesty in both their artists’ and art.
We deliver quality in all styles of contemporary tattooing with a focus on classic traditional Japanese tattoos that not only stand the test of time in quality not only through using handmade inks, the highest quality needles and the best equipment available, but also on their artistic merit by being true to the Traditional Japanese style and form that rose out of the Edo period of Japan.
Our mission is to facilitate the creation of the highest quality tattoos of every serious style using the latest modern and traditional techniques and equipment in a safe, clean and inspiring environment that our clients will wear with pride for many years to come.

In doing so my aim is give the wearer of these quality tattoos that I or another Authent/Ink artist creates a source of personal power, feeling of accomplishment and everlasting pride that will accompany them their entire lives and into the grave, all while practicing the safest methods of cross-contamination protection and adhering to the highest standards of cleanliness.

At Authent/Ink we only use the highest quality equipment and inks. Our inks are vibrant, long-lasting and non-toxic. All of our equipment is 100% clean and hygienic, sterilised in two state of the art, hospital grade autoclaves which are digitally and spore tested and certified annually. The business and each artist is registered with the NSW Health Department.

We have a variety of artists that create their own unique style of Japanese Tattooing and whom are wholly dedicated to creating authentic Japanese style irezumi and hormono and practice this style of the craft every day the studio is open. Horisumi is the only artist at Authentink that does hand carve tebori style.
Now that you have a consult booked with an artist at Authentink Tattoo Studio or are on the wait list for a consult with one of our artists there are some things you can do to get the most out of your tattoo experience and get the best result from your artist.
1) You should have a pretty good idea of what you want to get tattooed, at least some rough ideas as to placement and design… if you don’t then being opened minded is the way to go, all of our artists can make very good recommendations as to size and placement and what works and doesn’t as a tattoo so don’t worry if you’re unsure we can help, but the more thought you put into it before you come to see us the better.
2) While waiting for your consult spend some time researching your tattoo ideas, look online, browse artist galleries and then print some stuff out that you like and want to show your artist. When you come for your consult bring all your printed reference to show your artist making it much easier to discuss your ideas with them. Whilst you can use your phone or an iPad, printed on paper is a much better means of visualising your concepts.
3) Come prepared mentally to make commitments to ideas and designs and dates and times. We don’t rush through consults so take your time with us and lets use your time and our time smartly to work out the tattoo you will live with forever. If you’re running late or in a hurry to leave let us know and we can book a second consult for you if need be, we take our tattooing seriously so there’s no rush to book you in until your are 100% ready.
4) Please bring a cash deposit for booking your appointment. The amount will vary depending on the size of the design, it could be $100 for a small design up to $1000 for a full backpiece.. this money goes towards your final tattoo price and is used to secure your tattoo appointments until your tattoo is finished.
We do not charge for drawings. All consults are free of charge.
When booking in with your artist, if you would like preliminary sketches for your tattoo sent to you, this must be requested and confirmed during the consultation with your specific artist, as it is not standard practice with most of our artists. These sketches would normally be sent to you within a week of your appointment for approval as all the artists draw each design in the lead up to each appointment. If you have any questions about this don’t hesitate to ask our friendly receptionist or your artist.
