This Saturday, we have a mix of projects taking place in the studio, from continuing large scale pieces on well-seasoned clients to first time tattoos. Come along and see what’s going on!
Horisumi is steadily chipping away at a snake back piece, currently filling in background. This is particularly interesting tattoo as it flows around an already existing Sak Yant tattoo done by a different artist in Thailand. Despite the differences in imagery, we think the concepts come together quite nicely to create an eye-catching design.
For those of us on the spontaneous side, a walk-in tattoo is the perfect remedy to that mid-day itch of boredom. That’s why Horivida has signed up to be our dedicated walk-in artist for the day. He’s had some luck thus far, tattooing two designs from his recently dropped flash sheet-the scorpion and the knife, plus a neo-trad kangaroo for a kind tourist with a collection of travel tattoos.
Speaking of tourists, Bonzai spent the morning tattooing an awesome couple from Scotland. He also took on some walk-in clients, two friends getting their first tattoos-lyrics from particularly meaningful songs to each. Though they were nervous, they sat well and left the studio happy. Thanks to them for the trust!
Keeping on the theme of first tattoos, earlier today Kai brought to life two peacefully swimming sharks. Using shading to create the appearance of a shadow cast over the sea floor, this tattoo perfectly compliments the flow of the calf (and the flow of the ocean!).
Finishing off with our tattoo artists sydney on the ground floor, James is one session away from completing a dragon-koi and daruma shoulder/chest piece in his signature ink brush style. Despite the tricky placement, his client has sat like a trooper and some good progress has been made!
Upstairs, Pong is in the process of reworking a back piece started by a different artist. This has involved a bit of back and forth to pin down what would enhance the tattoo and tie together the competing elements, but the work has paid off. There’s definitely more to go, so stay tuned to see the finished reworked tattoo!
Similarly, Max is arm-deep in a 3/4 quarter sleeve that is also a cover-up. The fresh ink depicts an incredibly detailed dragon-koi wrapping around the arm. When I walked by to take this image, both Max and his client were so focused that I thought it better to leave them be. Instead, have a peek at them mid-session from a distance.
Last up for today, in her own little corner of the studio, Lily is working on an ornamental full-length spine tattoo. Made up of delicate lines, dots and symbols, this design is a beautiful marvel. Another first-tattoo that we had the honour of witnessing today!
Thanks to all of the clients today who dropped by the studio for a pre-booked session or for a spontaneous tattoo-you made our day!
