From the day ink enters your skin, it changes you. How you view art, your lifestyle, your perception of yourself and others…. Many of these things are intuitive but here are a few things that you might not expect once you get tattooed, they go from most to least conventional!
We’ll start off with the most obvious. Before you get tattooed, preparation is key to ensure your session goes smoothly. This includes moisturising and exfoliating at least 1 week prior to your appointment to ensure your skin is ready to get tattooed. After the tattoo, it is recommended that you start to moisturise your tattoo after 2-3 days once it starts to get dry and flakey. You can click here to take a look at our full aftercare instructions.
More often than not, this turns into a habit of moisturising your whole body and not just the tattoo which leads to healthier, glowing skin. (You’re welcome)

Tattoos hurt (duh). When you do larger scale tattoos or big sittings, your body eventually gets used to the pain. We all have our own ways of dealing with the pain, some work much better than others. After a certain amount of hours you end up figuring out what works best for your pain management, and when you start to get tattooed more regularly you build up your mental toughness. This skill builds with time and has a great carry on effect to many things in life, and you start to develop a mindset of “if I could sit through that tattoo, I can get through anything”

We all find inspiration from different things, as you refine your taste you also curate what you decide to get tattooed on you. Many of us find inspiration from image sharing platforms like Pinterest or Instagram, but you may find yourself becoming more eclectic with your tattoo references over time. Sometimes going to an art gallery or even seeing something beautiful among the mundane can inspire your next tattoo!

This one comes when you have a bit more skin in the game, and many tattoo artists are quite guilty of this one too. It’s usually when you least expect it, and something catches your eye. Maybe it’s a beautiful splash of colour, something that flows perfectly with the body or even just a recognisable shape but it will draw your eyes in and not let go. Tattoos can have a mesmerising effect like that, that’s the magic of tattooing. But be careful with this one, you don’t want to stare too long or else you might get some funny looks from the person with the cool tattoos. This one is a double edged sword because it could happen to you if you have some cool tattoos.

So that’s it for our short and sweet list. Do you have any of these habits? Was there anything that we missed? Let us know, our insta DMs are open and we’d love to talk tatts with you!!
